Efficient Lifting = Effective Lifting
Form Analysis
What the benefits are:
-
Learn "what" is going on - A description of any deviations in form that may affect your training. The goal is to outline which areas will benefit you most to focus on. I seek to provide actionable steps, and not just a list of things to work on.
-
Understand "whether & how" faults may affect injury or performance - Depending on what you read online and who wrote it, a fault in form can be considered both “dangerous” and “no problem.” As licensed physical therapist who is fitness- and performance-oriented, I seek to bridge the gap in what’s being told to clients by clarifying what deviations you actually need to focus on, and why you ought to.
-
Learn "why" the fault is occurring - This is more of a mechanical breakdown written in a straightforward way that will explain what the cause of the form deviation is.
-
How to correct faults - Different faults can be caused by mobility issues, weakness in specific areas, or can be improved simply by focusing on different parts of the lift (for example, keeping your weight in your heels). You will be given instruction on what to do next.
-
There is a reduced price for those who want to assess all of their powerlifting movements (analyzing the squat, bench press, and deadlift) or Olympic lifts (analyzing the snatch and clean & jerk).

FAQs about Form Analysis
Why is this service provided by a physical therapist (PT) and not a personal trainer?
The purpose of this analysis is to provide insight into mechanical considerations that not only affect performance but may also be helpful in mitigating injury. Given the depth of training in anatomy, body mechanics, and musculoskeletal injury, as a PT, I can assist in determining what modifications or accessories to one's workout may be needed. The focus is both injury mitigation and increasing performance.
My form is pretty good, but I want to make it better so I can lift as heavy as possible. Could a Form Analysis help me lift more weight?
Yes, absolutely! When completing the intake form, you can select your primary goal (improving 1 rep. max. or peak strength, improving overall strength, increasing muscle, or overall fitness), and my suggestions will be tailored to your goals accordingly.
If you identify and address the one area that causes your form to break down, you will also see a considerable improvement in how much you can lift.
I've heard physical therapists can be nit-picky and forsake performance for "safety." They often advise that if you have sub-optimal form, to just stop entirely. How do I know you won't do the same?
My goal is to help decrease the likelihood of injury while continuing to lift. I wholeheartedly believe that individual differences, such as hip socket position, make it inappropriate to force everyone to lift using the same “perfect” form. I provide individualized feedback to each client based off this approach.
